WORK IN PROGRESS. So I decided to redo from scratch my image I found my last project had fundamental compositional errors. So here is my unfinished painting. The idea is to create an establishing shot for the empire. I want to symbolize confidence and power through shadows. The imperial shuttle is not in the shadows. Also the empire has built this black metal rig over the native planets ancestral structure. There is no imminent danger in this scene. Also color is used to draw the eye to the imperial shuttle

WORK FLOW. For the technical underlay I used Sketchbook pro. Then once I had something I liked I threw it back into photoshop. As I was working I am seriously considering integrating 3d into my workflow.

First Environments

So I ended up going back to this and using the best of my abilities learned from class to try and make a cohesive image . To The three background mountains I added a dry brush filter which greatly simplified the details while keeping the same values. I also added in a ton of mist and subtle effects keeping the colours close to the photos I brought in.

Week 2

Day 2

WEEK 2 - Custom Shapes Expirementing

After playing around with various customs shapes I created this environments. I tried to limit the amount of photobashing to really figure out this new "Sparth" technique.

STARTING POINT - LEFT X-WING
using various cues such as the gaze of the statue, the landscape and the flare from the jet packs. I wanted to guide the eye to the X-wing on the far left.

JOURNEY STORYTELLING
Seeing as most Western Languages are read left to right I wanted my visual language to do the same.

A. The X-fighters must cross paths with the obstacle (A) which is a giant statue of this native planet. What I am trying to symbolize here is the reluctance of this very independant planet has in accepting the rebellion to fight the empire. Also I choose a bird-human like figure as a statue due to the fact the planet has lots of high mountains, so its inhabitants would most likely have birds in their folklore.

B. The fighters enter a very thin opening into the mountains. The inhabitants of this planet are concerned of foreign invasions so they built narrow entrance into old mineshafts to prevent large enemy ships from entering.

PRESSURE COMPOSITION
I wanted to show between the native inhabitants, the terrain and the empire the rebels are feeling the pressure.

COLOR PALETTE AND TECHNICAL LIGHT DETAILS.

4 ORIGINAL "SPARTH" SKETCHES
Using the custom tool I created these compositions.

Week 2 Samuel Couture

Hey guys, here are my sketches. I wasn't super pleased with the first idea, so I tried something different. Not sure which one is my favorite at this point.

Homework Week 2 : Photobashing Practice

Photobash Environment from one of the James Bond thumbnails.

Four thumbnails based on James Bond, the manor, the stag statues, etc...
The one on the righ side, down, was the one I took and
re-made as a more "polished" image.

This one isn't based on James Bond or any thumbnail but I thought it'd be still relevant to
post it since it's photobashing practice.

Week 2 (Unfinished)

After couple of technical problems and try & fails stuff (very new to this technique), here's where I'm at. It's unfinished, but I don't think I'll have more time until next class to push it further.

(The rocks on the background, the falls, the water, the character, the flame, they are all unfinished and I believe I'm also lacking some integration for the rest).

Week two post feedback welcomed!

Im not very experienced with photo bashing, I was wondering if there was anything else I could to to make this a successful photo bash, theres still plenty of details missing but I could your expertise if needed! I hope you understand the image too.
